Richard Holohan is a co-founder and Managing Director of Logistics Capital & Strategy and has been with it and its predecessor firm since 2005. He has 16 years of experience providing strategic and investment advice across a range of industrial services and manufacturing verticals.

Mr. Holohan is an expert in strategy, financial analysis and valuation and has advised numerous management teams and investor groups.  His transaction experience includes M&A assignments for both strategic and financial acquirors in a variety of contexts, including publicly and privately held targets, distressed acquisitions, restructurings and control and minority investments.  Similarly, he has directed successful growth and performance improvement strategy engagements across a variety of transportation industry segments. 

Mr. Holohan’s transaction, strategy and due diligence experience includes leading the following engagements:

  • Advised a leading private equity firm on a major investment in the largest truck-stop and fuel retailer in North America.  Performed comprehensive due diligence and provided insight on prospective company performance across multiple scenarios.
  • Advised a leading private equity firm on a major investment in the distressed debt of the largest truckload trucking firm in the US. Project required a detailed financial model and extensive industry analysis and forecasting.  Mr. Holohan provided his client with a clear advantage in the investment process by developing meaningful insights beyond publicly available data.
  • Advised a leading private equity firm in its successful acquisition of a publicly-traded global freight forwarder.  Advisory assignment involved interfacing with an initially hostile management and analysis of large amounts of unstructured data.  Mr. Holohan was able to identify the key issues and areas of analysis and played a key role in his client’s ability to make an aggressive, and ultimately successful bid.
  • Worked with a major third party logistics firm to assess the firm’s WMS strategy. The engagement involved a complete financial and strategic analysis of the WMS business, resulting in the development of a new business plan for the unit.
  • Advised a major third party logistics firm on an acquisition transaction in the deconsolidation space, including identification of acquisition targets, due diligence and an acquisition plan. 
  • Mr. Holohan has advised key constituency group in the largest trucking restructuring effort to date.  Performed extensive operational and financial due diligence and provided council on critical credit negotiations with multiple lending groups.

In his prior experience as an equity research analyst with Brown Brothers Harriman, Salomon Brothers and Citigroup, Mr. Holohan analyzed and provided investment advice on the Packaging, Pulp & Paper and Electric Utility industries.  In this role he also provided investor education on a number of initial and secondary public offerings. 

Mr. Holohan graduated from Dickinson College with dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics and Policy Studies.  He is a member of the CFAI professional association and has passed level II of the CFA exam.
